An offer has to earn its place
An extra product on the screen is only useful if the customer wants it and the store can fulfil it profitably. Tapit’s proposition combines AI-powered product promotion with self-ordering, branded menus and multi-location management. Add-ons, upgrades and combos are part of the ordering experience.
Use the scenario below in a demonstration with your own menu. Ask the team to show which steps use AI and which you configure yourself.
Walk through a sandwich order
| Step | What the customer sees | What the operator should check |
|---|---|---|
| Choose | A sandwich and available options | The order reaches the POS with the correct modifiers. |
| Consider an addition | An offer to add a drink or choose a combo | The offer is relevant, priced correctly and available. |
| Decide | A clear way to accept or continue | Declining the offer does not obstruct checkout. |
| Pay | A basket showing the final price | Tax, payment status and the order total reconcile. |
| Prepare | An order the store can fulfil | The offer has not introduced an unexpected kitchen bottleneck. |
A drink offer may lift the basket total and still add very little profit after a discount. Thats worth checking before expanding the campaign.
Ask what the AI actually controls
During a product demonstration, ask which decisions use AI and which use rules configured by the operator. Request a worked example using your products, prices and ordering flow.
- Which inputs are used: the current basket, historical sales or another source?
- Can the operator limit eligible products and discounts?
- How is an unavailable product handled?
- What does the system do when it has little or no historical data?
- Can the team explain why an offer appeared and evaluate its commercial effect?
Capabilities, data use and operator controls should be confirmed for your proposed configuration. A general AI label is not a substitute for that discussion.
Measure the offer, not just the basket
Track how often the offer is shown, accepted and fulfilled. Compare contribution per eligible order, including discount and payment costs. Check completion rate and service time as well. A promotion that causes people to abandon checkout is not a win.
Use the promotion testing guide to plan a comparison before the campaign starts.
